Edit Your Project Templates with AI Through the LaunchBay MCP

Your project templates are how your team runs the same client onboarding process the same way every time. When a template gets out of date, every project you start from it inherits the problem.

Until now, your AI assistant could list your templates and start new projects from them through the LaunchBay MCP, but it couldn't change them. Fixing a template meant leaving the conversation and making every edit by hand in the app. Starting today, your assistant can update your templates for you. Tell it what should change in plain language, and it makes the edit.

What your assistant can do

Once your assistant is connected to LaunchBay, it can work on any template you're allowed to edit. It covers three things:

1. Look over a template. It can walk you through every stage and task in a template, including descriptions, subtasks, forms, and settings, so you can check what's there before you change anything.

2. Add and edit tasks. Ask for a change the way you'd ask a teammate:

• "Add a client task to the Kickoff stage of our Onboarding template: Upload your logo files, due 3 days after it starts."
• "Attach our intake form to the Welcome call task, and add subtasks for the agenda and the recording link."
• "Make the Internal review task team-only and turn on reminders."

It can also change a task's title, description, stage, signature requirement, and embedded content.

3. Add, rename, and remove stages. Add a stage at the end of a template, rename one, mark it internal so clients don't see it in their client portal, or set how many days it's expected to take. To see how long each stage actually takes, compare against your real timelines in Durations reporting.

Plus two smaller things

• Rename and describe templates. Ask your assistant to update a template's name or description so your team always picks the right one.
• Clean up what you don't need. Your assistant can delete tasks and stages you no longer use. Deleting a stage also deletes the tasks inside it.

Safe changes, only from the right people

Only people who can edit templates in LaunchBay can edit them through your assistant. If a task or stage is used by an automation, or another task is waiting on it, your assistant warns you and waits for your OK before deleting it.

Changes apply to projects you create from the template from now on. Projects you've already started stay exactly as they are, so no in-progress client implementation gets disrupted.

Editing templates through your assistant is live today for teams on our Premium plan, which includes MCP access. If your assistant is already connected to LaunchBay, there's nothing to set up. Just ask it to open one of your templates.
